Dear fellow music lover,

Concert Series Autumn 2023

We are celebrating twenty years since the start of Frome Concerts Group and I know there are lots of audience members who have attended almost all the events since the very beginning. This really is something to celebrate, so don’t miss out on our Anniversary series of concerts. The Autumn concerts will bring much to delight and next Spring, as well as the usual series of four, there will be an extra – very special - anniversary concert. Watch this space!

The current series starts on Sunday 24 September when there will be birthday cake to share. Saraband will present a lovely, cheerful programme of music from the seventeenth century called ‘Painted Ladies’. The programme for the Levanto Ensemble’s concert includes music spanning four centuries from Mozart to works by living composers. Two young Ukrainian musicians, Double Cup, present the third concert of works for guitar and flute and the Kleio String Quartet’s special, full-length concert rounds off the series. Doors open at 2.15 for every concert, so do come and enjoy a complimentary cup of tea before the music. Details of the performers and the concert programmes are on the website and we have given you the option to print them all off together!

We are celebrating our twentieth anniversary with a new website and a slightly different flyer. We hope that you approve and that you find it easier to locate the information you need and to book your subscription or tickets. I know you will be pleased to hear that there is no longer a booking fee! We will email the flyer to everyone who has joined our mailing list and flyers are available all around Frome. We still send flyers by post but do tell us if you can manage without this - it will really help us to reduce our costs.

As usual, subscribing to all four concerts means a huge reduction in cost. If you are unable to book on line, you can still buy tickets by post. Subscriptions are on sale on Friday 11 August and single concerts tickets will be released on Monday 28 August. Subscribing to the series also gives you membership of Frome Concerts Group and the right to attend and vote at the AGM. This will be held after the concert on Sunday 29 October.

Of course, FCG has undergone some changes over the last twenty years, but the two constants in all this time are the joy of hearing live music presented by professional musicians in Rook Lane Chapel and meeting friends over a free cup of tea beforehand. It is quite remarkable that such a small concert society has continued to operate without any subsidy or sponsorship and this is due entirely to your enthusiastic support – thank you!

We look forward to seeing you all in September – tell your friends, bring your families – let’s celebrate together!

With best wishes, Mary and the Committee – Clive, Diana, Edith, Rhona and Sarah.
